 Soldier goes off to War. Need kind and sweet memories to keep them human. 

                     The Lover (A soldier prayer)
 
Poor boys and men.
Roads lead to War.

 
Young woman with a  sweet smile.
Silk dress.
Smelling like the Spring wildflowers.

 
She whispered to her soldier.

“Let’s dance tonight.
You shall go to War. 
tonight we need to create photos for the heart. 
Memories to keep you warm when you are lonely and afraid.”

 
Young man brought his sweet Angel close.
Whispered kind words of love and thankfulness.

 
Soldier stand alone.
Cleans his M-16A2.
Death is all around him.

 
He closes his eyes and
he remembered.
The smell of the wildflowers on her skin,
the feel of her silk dress.

 
The sweet smile of his love.

 
Keeps him human.

Agelessly romantic images in thus wonderful poem, and the memory of the scent of flowers is perfect to describe the power of the feminine divine to nourish and comfort. I try to imagine being a soldier. I am not certain I have the right kind of courage. I would have to be angry to fight. Blame my berserker ancestors ( I blame them for tons of stuff lol)

A heartfelt poem; saying good bye is painful, especially to your love, a young woman who smells like spring flowers... Taking photos for remembrance, while both are far away from each other. even in was, he sees her in his mind's eye, those sweet flowers... which for a fleeting moment allow him to smile.

Thank you dear Betty. We need memories and we need photos. Once I found a dying soldiers. He told me. Take the photos out of my pocket. The photos were of wife and his children. He held them and he told me. Please tell them. I loved them.
