Kisses in the dark...

Lovely Imany gave me reasons to write this poem.

“Yet each man kills the thing he loves,
By each let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword!

Some kill their love when they are young,
And some when they are old;
Some strangle with the hands of Gold:
The kindest use a knife, because
The dead so soon grow cold.

Some love too little, some too long,
Some sell and others buy;
Some do the deed with many tears,
And some without a sigh:

Kisses in the darkness..

Once the saddest man in Austin Texas, he told me.

Kisses can kill you, kisses can kill your happiness and he smiled.

He told his whiskey and me.

Better to die by kisses than a 45 pistol in your mouth.

Prettiest and saddest gal in Downtown Austin,

she held my hand tightly and she whispered to me.

Thank you dear Johnnie for being my friend,

holding my hands and making me smile.

Been a rough year and I do feel alone often.

You come to me every Friday night,

you make me drink, you make me talk.

You bring me whiskey and my favorite pizza.

Johnnie, can kisses kill your soul?

Can kisses break your mind?

He told her. Love can be ugly, love can be beautiful.

Love can make us believe, we are kings and we are queens.

My Texas rose, we need the kisses.

Without the kisses, we would be alone.

She smiled and she asked him. Would you promises me a million kisses?

will you promise me. To never allow me to be alone?

He brought her closer and he whispered.

I am here with you and I promise to stay with you till the end of days.

You and I.

Just butterflies, dancing in the hellish winds of life.

It was good to read Oscar Wilde’s poem before your own Coyote. I enjoyed both very much. I am a huge fan of Oscar Wilde. Loved the Ballad of Reading Gaol. The prison is still there about three miles from where I live. Empty now, we think it might be converted into an arts centre. That would be most fitting.

Kisses are wonderful providing they don’t lead to a broken heart. Sadly there are no guarantees. There have been many broken hearts which started with good intentions.
