The healing, the sunflowers..

The healing, the sunflowers..

A Poem by Coyote Poetry

Please listen to the video. My first poem for May. I hope everyone is enjoying the days of Spring.

The healing, the sunflowers..

My grandfather loved his garden. Now I became like my grandfather.

He loved the roses, the wildflowers and the days of Spring, the days of rebirth.

He told me often. We are all gardeners. I raised four children and

they are strong and so beautiful.

Now I plant the sunflowers seeds and I care for my roses.

My garden are my children too.

He told me on a warm late May day. If life is heavy.

Come to my home and we will solve any problem, you have.

He loved the sunflowers, the 12 foot plants reaching for the sun.

He told me often. The family is our garden. We must care for, be the safe place to come to.

Now I am the grandfather and I tried to be like my grandfather.

I take care of my many rose bushes and I plant the sunflowers in my yard.

My children know. I am the safe place. I will stand with them in the good or bad days.

My grandfather, my grandmother taught me. Our family is our wealth.

Hi coy,

A very beautiful lines which the current leaders must listen to this video, so atleast world get together as a single family, vasudhaiva kutumbam.
I am seeing in your depth thought process what you are based.
For few the real intent is understood that is only few who will be out saviors, else few poked into 🌻 sunflower you will not be lifting up when sun goes to west. How much we try to help people it's a waste effort and nothing benefits but only say no that is wrong I will show you peace, takes them to bar and pat...
But I don't want to dishearten you how tried to find this video, what is your browsing history, keep doing good, definitely it helps one single ant, then efforts are fruitful don't bother about 100 misleading thoughts in the above video who lived wrongly misinterpret finding faults because the person in video is not Brahmin because he eats meat, pork beef....
How he could become so knowledgeable, because indians are gods, others outside India are demons ...

Thank you for your concern and effort..

Jessy Jacob.

I never got to know my grandfather. One lives in another country and I've never met him. My mom's dad lived closer to us, but she never spoke of him and unfortunately, I never got to know him either. I hope if I have children someday, it would be different somehow. And I can plant a new garden with my future but it's just a dream, if I don't die before I ever get the chance to. Still. Your poem is a beautiful thought and perhaps, a dream.

This feels like sunlight on the page..tender, grounded, and full of legacy. I love how you connect the act of gardening with love, care, and generational strength. The sunflowers become more than flowers here; they’re living symbols of protection and continuity. There’s such quiet beauty in that image of being “the safe place” for your family. A heartfelt and healing read.

We need a safe place to go dear Roma. Thank you for reading and the comment. I do appreciate.
Such a warm and heartfelt poem. The way you connect gardening with caring for your children.. it's so sweet. Your poem shows your love for nature and family. I'm sure that your grandfather was a kind and loving person, and now you're carrying his legacy with love and care like he used to to.
Bravo!

Thank you, dear Ayesha. We do become our grandparent.
I have always believed your poetry to have a certain rawness to it that both makes it beautiful and digestible, and this piece is absolutely no exception. You draw so many parallels between your life and the garden that you give it almost a nostalgic type of mouthfeel. As if to say the poem outloud would invoke a sense of homesickness from within. I think you are vastly talented and I am always left sitting in awe after taking in your creation. Once again, well done.

Thank you Tee/Marie. I appreciate your kind words.
Dear Coyote,

It's a blessing to have a garden. Reading about the 12 feet tall sunflowers made me realize how much I'm missing out on. Indeed, life is so much about gardening. A good gardener takes care of his children and family just as he does of his garden. The fruits of his toil are so sweet. I'm so happy that you find bliss in your roses and I wish you a century of happy gardening!

Thank you my friend. I agree and I appreciate the comment my friend.
The garden is an excellent metaphor for life. If it is well tended, splendid fruit will be the product. But if we neglect it, our harvest will be less than fulfilling.

OH! I was so taken by the video!
Your poem is just beautiful! I love the way you reach back for memories.
Now you are the grandfather and your goal is to teach like your grandfather taught you.
It's funny how we sometimes rebel against the rules but we always end up clinging to them.
Yes, family is a garden we think of as a safe place. You're a very good grandfather. And poet!
