Two out of three. It isn't bad.A Poem by Coyote PoetryEdit a very old poem. Two out of three. It isn't bad. I was sitting alone in an Austin tavern in 1996. An old man dressed poorly ordered a water. Give the old man what he wants. The old man smiles, and he told the bartender. Same as my new friend. I told him. He touched my back and he told me. He looked outside to the cold rainy night. “The third one isn’t so easy. I bought another round. and he raised the Long Island. He smiled and told me. I was successful once. I choose the booze and I looked into his sad eyes. He smiled and he told me to order him a double shot of whiskey. He whispered to me. Hold on, tightly and be thankful. I left him and I gave him a few dollars. I learn two out of three isn’t so good. Before it is too late. Coyote 3 July 1996 © 2025 Coyote PoetryAuthor's Note
