The sea dancer.

(First poem in three months. I need to awake my muse.)

Once upon a time, was a late September day by the Monterey Bay.

You and me, we danced, we drank and we talked till the morning light appeared near the Pacific Ocean.

On the weekends. We followed Highway two from Big Sur to San Francisco in my Dodge truck.

I remember your long legs; I remember your auburn hair touching your lower back and your sweet voice.

We were lovers, we were friends. I called you my North Dakota hurricane and you called me, your Gypsy man.

I would read poetry to you, and you would hug me tightly in appreciation.

” Dear Gail, lovely Gail.

Let’s go where no-one knows our names.

Let’s us find the secret places near the sea, let’s find the hidden waterfalls in the faultline.

Let’s get bare a*s and tell the world to f**k off.

Dear Gail, thank you my dearest friend.

You make my life joyous and so wonderful.”

I returned to Monterey 20 years later and I found the places where her memory still lingered.

I close my eyes and I see my sea dancer.

I take off my shoes, and I wander to the dancing waves.

I put my feet into the cold ocean water and I told the stars; I told the moon.

Please send a message to dear Gail. Thank you for the dance.
