Walking in the graveyard.A Poem by Coyote PoetryApril is poetry month. New poetry number twenty-seven.![]() Walking in the graveyard. Ghost whispering secrets to me. 1- The dead do not talk no-more. If you listen well. You can hear whispering of things lost and never to be found. Good life, you escape to a better place. Ugly life, hell-bound souls. 2- I went to the graveyard to visit my friend. I brought a six pack of his favorite beer. I sit near his stone. I open a Miller beer and I tell him. My friend, I do miss your laughter. On 24 August, I order two beers and two whiskeys to remember your name. ![]() I tell the kind bartender. Largest sin, to forget a soldier friend who died in war. 3- I told the young man who lecture me. USA cannot be defeated. We will destroy Iraq. I show him a picture Oise-Aisne American Cemetery. I tell him, 6000 USA soldiers. They thoughts fought the last war. I told the young man. How many graveyards do we need? 4- I visit Arlington National Cemetery. I go alone so I stand with brother soldiers. I say the names of the name on the white stones. I tell them. They are not forgotten. I leave pennies and I pray they found a good place to rest. Please remember to say the name of people who left us. John © 2026 Coyote PoetryAuthor's Note
