He said: Dreams are worthless!

 

She said: What would our lives be without dreaming?

 

He said: I see no point in life any more.

 

She said: You are a grumpy old man, that's all.

 

He said: But life has no meaning. We live for a short while and then die.

              Why should I care about life?

 

She said: Because you can live your life with me, share my smiles;

                see the world through my eyes; you can hold my hand

                and watch the sea as its waves wash away all your fears.

This is an incredibly powerful poem. I love the way this ends. i feel like it could be expanded however, a couple of lines to open it more gently and a couple more lines in the middle to give it a more seamless back-and-forth feel to the dialogue.
