Afraid

Afraid

A Poem by Caustic_Dystopia

Laying in bed wrapped up tight
Restlessly staring into the night

Earbuds in, music loud
Uneasiness covers her thoughts like a shroud

She can't silence the voices as they scream in her head
Rough and raspy they haunt her like the dead.

As she desperately prays to a God she doesn't believe in
To show her some mercy for she's stretched far too thin.

So lost and confused, still waiting for a light
Weary and ready to give up the fight

But the path that heals her has already once betrayed
And the path of letting go also has her afraid.
