My family

My family

A Poem by Cedés G
"

This is for a close friend, who's like a brother to me.

"
I never had a family of my own,
So solitude was all I’d known.
I never had a family near,
And so I waited for death to appear.

At last, I saw what I never had known,
You helped me see it, now I'm not alone.
For family’s not made by blood, it’s clear,
But by love that in my heart stays near.

Am I still your little sister fair,
If I was never enough elsewhere?
Am I still your little sister fair,
And won’t the heavens tear us apart in despair?

You love me though you know my past,
And hold me close when I fall apart fast.
I love you when you're feeling low,
Because you stayed when the raven's song did blow.

I never had a family, or so it seemed,
But now I do, like a long-lost dream.
You hold me gently, soft and kind,
Like a guardian angel always aligned.
