Silent crime

Silent crime

A Poem by Cer

Overthinking is a crime,

I commit every night.

When the clock strikes twelve,

I'm caught in an overthinking spell.

My diary falls short,

Against the ink in my pen.

My thoughts get louder than the voice of my own,

They try to speak but drown even more.

I sleep to quiet the noise,

but on waking

I realise it wasn't just the nights.

It's whenever the world goes silent,

the commotions go down,

places where I'm needed no longer around.

It creeps into my mind like a silent whisper,

the water in my eyes

becoming thicker,

falling like rain on icy winters.

I feel like my mind

should be in solitary confinement.

But that wouldn't stop my thoughts,

so maybe a brain extraction?
