The Background

One of my first poems that still gets me and doesn't cringe me out

Sometimes the people around me shine so bright
I forget even I got light
It may not work right
But maybe it's just not white
Maybe it matches the background
Where I always seem to lie
Unable to escape, maybe that's where I'll die...
