I was asked what soul food mean to me...

I was asked what soul food mean to me...

A Poem by Chaka2lu
"

Down home cooked love....

"

My definition is exactly that...food for the soul...be it greens and cornbread at grandma's house while she reads soft poetry from Sista Angelou, popsicles and watermelon on Auntie Lou's front porch, laughing at the boys up the way cause Auntie Lou ain't havin' that s**t, or biscuits and chocolate gravy made by mama cause you skinned your knee or some man skinned your soul. It is happiness and sadness but will always see you through so you can be prepared to give your soul food to the next generation of strong Black women and Strong Black Men. Just a thought...... What does it mean to you?
