Disenchanted

Disenchanted

A Poem by paradoxical

Once, I was a kid
with so many dreams.
I had plans. I'd grow up
and do so many things.
I'd fight with the ninjas,
I'd dance with kings.

Once, I was a kid
and I knew all along
that one day I'd be big
and right all the wrongs.
I'd fight off the evil
and save the world.
I had big dreams
when I was a girl.

Now I'm a grown-up
and I still have dreams.
But I've learned that nothing
is what it seems.
There are no ninjas;
there are no real kings.
Sometimes I'm the evil,
and there's no fighting chance.
And I never quite
learned how to dance.

Ah the reality of growing up - what a bitter pill to swallow - personally I preferred it when the knight and dragons were real.
