State of Emergency (a tribute to T.M.I.)

This is dedicated to those that were present the day of the major meltdown at Three Mile Island.

To those who live less than a mile away
A certain fear looms day after day
Reminders of a meltdown years ago
Are evident in the water's ebb and flow

Where were you when the great alarm sounded?
Were you already packed and ready to go?
Did your body go numb, or shake like the ground did?
When nuclear sentiments were falling like snow

"State of Emergency" the newscaster preached
To those residents who, in their homes, could be reached
"Evacuate now, or face sickness and death,"
The brave man reported with his last dying breath

Where were you when the great alarm sounded?

On that fateful day so long, long ago

Those who survived all know it quite well
A TMI meltdown is a nuclear hell
Long gone are the days of panic and fright
Until the next time the sirens go off in the night
