My Closet BallerinaA Poem by Cherrie L Billa 5 year olds love of dance
Extent your hand and dance with me.
Let the pace and sway move you.
Who knew the orchestra’s power could
move such little feet.
And my wild Oklahoma terror transforms.
Like DR. Jekyll and Kindergarten Hyde
music calls her.
In her sorrow she sings the bubble
gum blue’s
My baby call’s it: Send My Mommy Back;
While she plays her pink guitar.
Nevertheless, in an instant my butterfly
catching,
chicken chasing, horse riding cowgirl
Is a sweet gentle ballerina
swaying, swirling, leaping, and
bowing
and of course waiting for applause.
The joys of being a child are never
ending.
