Little Bird

A Poem by Cherrie

“Feed me,” says the little bird and the passing sparrow snubs her nose as she flicks a rock to eat a grub.

“Feed me,” says the little bird to a Blue Jay eating a berry of black. He gulps it down and ruffles his back.

“Feed me,” he cries “My tummy aches so,” but the Cardinal red, does not slow, as a worm he pulls from its hole and carries back to his nest.

Now all the birds have gone away, as the little chick stops from play. With one leap a bug is caught and that my friend is how our little bird is taught.

I am a bird fan.. and this is a cute little story with a great lesson. Nicely done...

So many times parents shelter their kids and do everything for them and when they get out in the real world they don't know how to do the simplest of things or how to survive... I like the analogy you used to express your thought.
