Rewind Time

A Poem by Cherrie
"

thinking of Mother

"

With heavy heart I stand this ground and wish this day I could turn back.

Flowers of white and a dress of blue is what I’ve chosen now for you.

Phone calls I make with a tear filled eye, condolences are given as I ponder why.

Her hand I hold as time grows near and remind her of days filled with cheer.

With hope in my heart I embrace this task and Mother and I will proceed step by step.

A phone call I get in the dark of night and my mind is set as I race to her side.

I stand this ground on the day I lay Daddy to rest a promise I make and that promise will be kept.

Thank you for entering your poem into my competition.

It really touched me, you write with such passion and the imagery you created was breathtaking.

In life it is difficult to deal with the inevitable, as death is the only certain thing each of us know. Your words made me think of my own parents and the others around me that I should perhaps make a little bit more time for.

Once again, I thank you.

sorry for you loss Cherrie :( so fortunate you were able and willing to stay with her as much as you could .. there is a balance in life isn't there ...with age we begin and continue to loose more and more of our parents generation and then our own ...having to go through such loss brings a sweet acceptance of death i think ... more my own than others ... congrats of 3rd place in the contest ... your poem is succinct and to the point but emotive as can be ... it stands out to me that in your first line (and in your title) the first impulse we seem to have is to go back and do more ;))) so sad my friend

Some losses are immeasurable. But, you have to carry it with yourself for the rest of your life with a heavy heart. It never gets easy, but with time the heart crunching ache eases down.

With pain comes ease. Hold on to your faith. It will not let you down.
