The Battle

The Battle

A Poem by Cherrie

The Battle

First cut hurts the deepest.

Leaves you limp and slowed.

But as the war rages your pain begins to lull.

Now a seasoned veteran.

You fight without a tear.

But when the fight is over your victory brings no cheer.

No feelings have you to offer no dreams do you share.

I offer you freedom with one word.

Forgive.

Retaliation and vengeance. Two emotive reactions that so often end up as a waste of energy,as there is rarely a worthwhile outcome. As your poem relates, forgiveness can often resolve the situation, or at least avoid further stress.
A lesson for all who see aggression as strength.

Forgiveness is a powerful. It takes a lot of inner emotion to pull forgiveness from our heart sometimes. Causing more vengence leads to more pain which in the end is a huge wasted. Nice write here as as always keep writing my fellow writer

I think our basic instinct is fight or flight. We each react differently. Your ending is so true - we must forgive. Nice thought-provoking write.

So very true. The biggest thing that will set you free from whatever you are going through is forgiveness,

thank you Rae:)
Forgiving is so out of the realm of logic for some that they wind up living in hell and may not even realize it. It's a pall over their lives they must exist with. Great poem you've written here.
