faint outline

the moon seen by day

Ghostly image in a cobalt sky,

barely more than a faint outline.

You inspire by night, as lovers coo.

Beneath your tender covering,

your shadows gently move.

Yet here you are in light of day,

daring and bold as slowly you fade way.

 Eagerly awaiting your turn to beam

as the sitting of the sun sets you free.

A ridgeline of pines snake up the ridge

While cascading aspens make a hillside descend,

I from my window see the vast sky unfold.

And there before me, I see you wax full and bold.

There's something about the enigmatic moon... magically hangs in all its varying glories.. ever there even if hidden by clouds and the veil of sleep.

You write so delicately, fine phrases, beautiful direction, ' A ridgeline of pines snake up the ridge ~ While cascading aspens fill in the blanks, '

I wonder, is the moon so incredible because we can't actually feel it...but we can alternatively, feel the heat of the sun? Mistress Moon remains the mystery of all mysteries.. beckoning.. always beckoning.. and your poem refines that thought

the moon is a driving force in literature. Either we are filling it with symbolism or just admiring its beauty. It does seem that old moon gets around.
