Beneath The Ebb

Beneath The Ebb

A Poem by Cherrie
"

sunset on the water

"

Swells capped black roll,

beneath the ebb of a tangerine firmament

swarms of countless schools of bait

swirl the waters with opposing motion leaving ripples in the wake.

The last trace of light calms the wind and settles the waters.

While the bobwhite’s song helps evening plums bloom a velvety black.

My moonlit cove shines for the days fleeting smile has ended.

As the first star of night glows, I put down my rod to

take in the beauty of life.

What a choice, reflective piece! You truly have a knack for easy phrasing with beautifully chosen specific diction to generate your imagery: "evening plums bloom a velvety black", "swells capped black roll, beneath the ebb of a tangerine firmament", how wonderful!!

All the best,

Lanny

I watched this sunset in October and it has been knocking around in my mind since.

A beautiful picture your words paint, in both clouded darkness and vivid light. The colours become more vibrant, as you describe more, calming breaths and clarity of seeing, feeling and sensing the wonder of what is around us, and finding peace in your own small corner of an infinitely wondrous scene.

There is a beauty here and true.. no fisherman's yarn.. I love to watch the sun go down, and rise again across the pond I call my own, whenever I visit all alone... which I very often do... delightful Cherrie..

The odds are not in my favor (I hate moving) but I do have the White river and bull shoals lake.

whatever you desire most, I hope you shall eventually obtain it..
Lovely Cherrie. I spend a lot of time out of doors in all weathers and times of day and night and I can vouch that you've caught the atmosphere perfectly. I really like this line - swirl the waters with opposing strokes of creativity
All the best.

I love watching the different parts of the day. I never grow tired of its beauty.
i relate so much to this...have spent a good portion of my time fishing...especially at sunset when it is best...and I have always done still fishing which allows for us to take in the depth and breath of the beauty around, even as that bob goes under and the fish strike..thanks for the memories here.
