I am enjoying this book. I've never read it. I was tired of mysteries and crime and have never loved romance novels.
If you have never read this book give it a look. His easy speech and occasional use of seldom used words is a refreshing blend of honest speech. If you'd like to meet a famous author this book is a friendly hello to the man called John Steinbeck.

Yesterday morning I finished this book, being a product of the 60's it sang to me while I read it. I could picture the people, their clothes, even smells they must of carried.
This book is not the sum of a nation but a snippet in time and place. I will come back and visit this book again.

I've read, The Winter Of Our Discontentment, but this rambling tale of travel is a delight.

It has tiny bits of wisdom melted into a leisurely journey.

all of his are delightful to me, even the rough ones.
The Grapes of Wrath is my favorite American Novel ever.
Followed closely (though they are comparable at all) by Stephen king's Needful Things.

If you can find it, I recommend beck's short story The Chrysanthemums. I had to read that in language arts moons ago, but I still remember the woman shamefully hiding her face from poor people in the ending line.
He will always stick in my brain. He's branded there or something.

I also love, Tortilla Flat and yes, the grapes of wrath, is amazing and the first thing I ever read of his.

I found The Chrysanthemums, on youtube of all places. It was excellent.
