Stillness

I watch so many struggle against the stillness.
Filling their days with overlapping clatter:
Afraid of their own inward voice,
they wrestle.
Where I on the other hand-
move and flow to access these gateways,
and rest in the stillness of the moment.
Connecting to these times gives me clarity.
Allowing me to recharge,
both body and soul.
Where the voice of nature sings
and communion with my Creator binds.
Tranquility feeds my inner self.
Reminding me what is important,
by offering a humble hand to those in need.

I enjoyed this. I like the scripture in Psalm 46:10 that says, " Be still and know that I am God". There's also a spiritual song that I simply love by The Isaacs called "Stand Still". Your poem reminds me of both. Thank you for the gentle reminder. Bless, F.

This is a moving piece and very true. We often fill our lives with so much "clatter" that we forget to take the time to just sit, to take stock of what we have and just to breathe. Very often, taking a few moments out can be incredibly rejuvenating and provide us with the clarity on the way forward in our lives.

I love the lines: "Allowing me to recharge/ both body and soul."

Being still is something that can tax us in various ways at various times and situations. We are often counselled to find our centre and if it isn't our Creator then we are off centre to begin with. There is a rime for clatter, but only to an extent. What is more important is a time for to rest, listen to your inner voice, and think about others less fortunate than you. Think about yourself and your inner peace.
The world would be so much better with less chaos, and more should reflect upon their lives.. A fine thought Cherrie.

Embracing the stillness doesn't come easy for some. They have to have the company of noise. Whether that is TV, radio or people. I cherish solitude and stillness. That is when I am at my most creative. I think anyone with a creative outlet appreciates time on their own. Nice piece Cherrie. The stillness allows me time to connect to the natural environment.

This is one of your best, Cherrie. It reminds me of The Eagles' song, Learn to be Still. I think you hit on a really fine opening line - the alliteration works well, especially the two S sounds coming at the end of the line.

see? this is what we wish for...to be able to be still, to be able to embrace the quiet.

to have peace inside..but some are just too afraid of silence, of their own silence...
almost like someone on a date who is too nervous to let the conversation just flow, or to ask questions of the other person...so the former just drones on and on and on....boring the partner to death.
Do we bore ourselves too much sometimes to allow the quiet when alone?
