Taking in the breath of God.

Breath in

And in again
- -
Once more to our fullest.

Lungs finally expanded

Body awakes.
- -
Release.

Freeing God’s breath. That command to live.

Again, three times the breath
Once more, feel the fullness
feed the soul, clear the mind
- -
And release.

Release doubts and fears
Judgements, anger, and pain.

Lift up holy hands.

[Reaching God is not a formula but surrender and a dedicated path.]

And praise His Holy name.

[Do not waste a day
that could be your last.]

But live life to its
Fullest and give,
those around you,

This read like a play with some phrases in parentheses where action happens. As much directions to peace, as a prayer for peace. I really like the 'three times' stanza. This is unique and original, as your poetry usually is.

A nice, peaceful piece. As I read it, I felt at ease, exhaling, almost like a meditation exercise written down in the form of a poem. I think meditation can be a excellent tool for individuals to feel at one with themselves and it serves as a reminder that one needs to live to enjoy life. Thank you for sharing!

A beautiful prayer Cherrie. I felt your serene self. I no longer follow an organised religion (I did for years until I discovered the bigotry within the church) because I believe it has caused so many problems in the world and is not all encompassing. It can be divisive. I do however admire your strength of faith. I look to the natural world these days to find answers. Sometimes I get them, sometimes not. I wish for peace, understanding and tolerance here on this planet for all, regardless of their beliefs.

I don't know why things like that happen. Is the best answer I can give. Men have been arguing that a very long time.
My simple layman response is: God is not a dictator demanding performance. He offers mankind freewill.
Just like a car creator makes cars, but each driver must choose how they drive and or care for the vehicle. Ultimately each driver is accountable for their actions.
In each life it comes down to choice

my father was roman catholic, my mother a southern babtist
i remember well the 1st commandment
i am the lord thy god
thou shalt not have other gods before me'
i understand these written words are from man
but ... omnipotence is the message here
god is responsible for all/everything by declaration

it was at god's command the planet was totally emersed inn flood waters 'killing everything' but that held within the ark
for what? a lesson to the masses for bad behaviors?
the masses were no more because god was upset/infuriated by acts of mere mortals?

there is something higher that created this we are, not by a vengeful deity
what it is, is beyond my scope

Religion often misses it. They -the church leaders -are unable to offer the same forgiveness they themselves received ( if indeed they are saved).
I try and not measure my faith by others failures or boasts.
I believe God created my soul with a purpose and I live in this body for a time. Life is a gift I try to care for (which includes those around me).
I try to walk in harmony with my surroundings: nature, family, friends, neighbors and beyond. I believe in not stiring up stife between people and showing mercy. However, I also will defend those in need with blood ( my own or the perpetrator's).
I think about the fullness of God's anger wiping out the wicked , and looking around at the mass wickedness of today. I wondered how close to His fullness this world must be and I want us to stand up for those being victimized and not be afraid to speak up.
