Tethered to the Wind

Tethered to the wind see him fly.

those wings of grace caress the sky,

 

Seized by his beauty I begin to cry.

Tucked in a thermal he hitches a ride.

 

Until 

he is out of sight.

It is perhaps my childhood that this reminds me of the awe in flying a kite and seeing it soaring up, to the roof of life, wondering if it would make a clunking sound when it hit where the sky ended, only for the force of nature to prove too much and the line to snap, wondering if we would ever see it again, or read in the news that it clunked someone in the head as it fell to the ground...i never told anyone, just in case it killed them and I'd be sent where all the bad boys ended up, "the big hoose!"
Ps... It was Scotland, so chances were it would have hit someone in Norway, with the wind we got! 😊

The simple joy of flying a kite. I don't guess kids these days do alot of that.
But didn't it fill our minds with wonder.

The hawk so beautiful a sight, until it is out of sight, and we mourn.
I see this poem as an allegory....it is a human who is leaving....once getting a ride we watch
the person ride out of sight, and ponder the loss of that person being in our lives.
Short, simple and powerful...quite the combination here.
