Shadows Fall

Ghazal 5 couplets. The first ending in the same phrase. And the second line there after repeats it.

Under the oak so old, shadows form

on the darkened lea, shadows form.

 

 The babbling brook smoothly sings.

Sloping sun, lets the shadows form.

 

The book now closed, the day is gone.

And with sleepy mind shadows form.

 

Beneath twinkling stars, a light bows low.

And from that light, these shadows form.

Peace such a small word but it is most essential. Mt prayer is for peace to come. So many have not seen it in their lifetime.

Completely new form to me Cherrie. I enjoyed the couplets and the sense of calm and stillness a star lit night brings.

This is an Arabic form. I always enjoy writing them.

A new form on me, but I do like it. It lends itself to calm with its repetition and an almost Mantra like feel to it, lulls you into serenity.
