Echos through the trees

With the setting of the sun
Time did slow
And the eyes of man
Turned to the sky above.

The curtain of night
Softly did flow.
High from the heavens
Dusting the earth below.

Gentle the breeze
That ruffled the veil.
Peering from behind
The Moon did swell.

The bright full moon
Heavy with light.
Commanded its space
On this winter’s night.

As the breeze did cease
The shroud grew still.
And the stars aligned
Twinkling God’s will.

Creatures of the Glen
Arrived one by one
And alone wolf’s howl
Declared the show had begun.

So the curtain diffused
And it fell without a trace
revealing twinkling stars
That danced in place.

The image of the moon
Clung to the lake
As restless swans
Scurried away.

The song of the loon
Received high praise
As, the “who” of the owl
Echoed through the trees.

Silhouettes upon the eddy
Where ripples are mild
Showed the moon now pale
Slip into the depths of the water.

And the night now spent
Prepared for slumber.

what a stunning poem about the heavens, the earth’ night creatures…l we get a good sense of the cosmos as the sky turns black… so much happens it’s like a broadway show, full of light , sounds and movement…. your words are lovely and clear…. I liked this one very much Cherrie!

I love the moment of twilight as the sky is painted with many colors of deep purples and dusty pinks to burnt orange and then within minutes the night stars shine and the moon shows her light.

I love the imagery and the scene painted in this poem. All the nocturnal animals coming out of slumber as the daytime creature find a place to hunker down for the night.

This is calm and done with grand details that highlight the night. It is smooth in its flow and the details are crafted with care

I have always desired to paint scenes in nature but the closest I can come to that is to paint them with words Thank you for your beautiful review.

I attempt to sketch and paint. It seems if I can see in my mind I can capture it on paper but just looking at something doesn’t really translate. But I do like taking a stab at it as well.
