Winter SlumberA Poem by Cherrie L Billthe close of fallMy painted autumn came to an end as the breath of God turned morning dew to a lacey rime Gale force winds stomped out the sun and just for spite brought lightning and the thunder. Heavens hail battered the earth below, as slowly it turned to an icy snow. The azure sky was tucked away as billowing clouds came my way. An eiderdown of ice was formed, as fall's last bloom became tightly bound now encased in its crystal tomb for a lengthy winter slumber silence engulfs winter's first plunder.
