Three Had TravelledA Poem by Cherriea day to remenber the lost and fallenThe steady flowing rain left the two without a single stich of dry clothing. Their embrace was more for leverage than comfort. For their hearts and souls were numb. A wretched East wind only added to their misery but with a steady stride and purpose of step they kept walking. I would image they were anointed in tears. However, if that was true the conditions concealed it. Finally they came to a stop, the two stood there alone. No one else had fought the rain to stand on this barren place. A bagpipe could scarcely be heard, as 13 folds of ‘Stars and Strips’
were placed in their hands and where three had travelled only two turned to go. © 2012 CherrieReviews
