Wishful Thinking

A sonnet. Though not a totally true one, because not each line has 10 syllables.

I wish I knew how to preserve a high
Or at least make it last a little bit longer
I wish I knew how to keep that sparkle in my eye
And make my heart just a little bit stronger

I wish I could tell you how I feel
Or figure out how to not fall in love
I wish I knew how to fly real
Far and spread my wings just like a dove

I wish for a moment I could touch the Sun
or maybe have a conversation with the stars
I wish I could make you see I'm the one
And run to you wherever you are

But wishful thinking does no good.
Even if I'd do these things if I could
