Blue

Blue

A Poem by Cheryl J. Turner

The changing tides, blue as my mood

Drown in the waves of emotion

They caress my heart, the meaning to soothe

But serve only to help it to part

I am pulled from the sea and my high tide of woes

Scorch of the land, Meet with my foes

Sun sets on my wounds, weep for the light

Darkness has won this good fight

Darling has gone again

Left me alone

No touch on the hand

No heart and no home

Forever my best friend

My demon, My lover

We'll dream dreams together

We'll dream of each other

Drag me down

Punish the wrongs

Bring me salvation

Sing cheerful songs

A lifetime of waiting

Now to ruin it all

I am but a menace

I seek fun just to fall

Bring me a lifestyle

Dress me as such

I am yours to label

You knew just as much

Primitive and simple

Boring to the core

Melancholy forever

Through each and every pore
