For Memé

For Memé

A Poem by Cheryl J. Turner

Never to be forgotten

It is etched upon my mind

I watched the last breath

Felt close to all mankind

I know I've led astray

Ruined all those plans

But what good were they anyway

With red and dirty hands

I felt a twinge within my heart

Upon reaching this heady day

I wish that you were next to me

Being you, that special way

Drink great toasts to who you were

Raise my glass to the stars

I like to think your looking down on me

From Jupiter or Mars

So to you dear Memé

With all the love I have to spare

I'll never forget you, nor let you go

My life is yours to share.
