I rememberA Poem by Cheryl J. TurnerI remember the way the sky looked just at the moment before the heavens opened, dark and ominous, full of unused potential. I remember the smell in the air, the thick scent of clean, fresh air. I can still see the field where I lay and the flowers dancing wildly about my body as the wind picked up, a sign of the impending storm. And as the rain came tumbling down I felt all the freedom and beauty of the earth deep within me, vibrating at my very core. Then came the silent screams, pleading to the sky to grant me just one wish and for that one wish to be that I would find my one true love and live happily ever after. I lay, cleansed by the rain, entertained by great lightning bolts and answered by the thundering roars above. I waited for every star to appear, then longer until day, watching the sun rise above the trees and only then deciding to make the sodden journey home, my job done. © 2010 Cheryl J.
