When we were little,
Momma had all the answers,
And Daddy knew just what to say.
Now that it's ten years later,
I'd like to go back a few yesterdays.
We couldn't wait to grow up,
And do whatever we wanted to.
Well it's all a trap,
And just like that,
You realize you never had the slightest clue.
Cause now Daddy is trapped in numbers.
Everybody tries to ring him dry.
His health pays for what his wallet can't,
And we're barely getting by.
Now Momma had to redo,
All the tests from 1991.
The hardest part is over,
But it's only just begun.
Sister hates her day job.
Goes home to do it all again.
We all know she's not alright,
But she'll smile and pretend.
Little brother is growing up too fast,
And driving even faster.
Trying hard to keep his head up,
So school won't be such a disaster.
And the youngest of us all,
Is 13 and 5 foot 10.
He's a genius and a dreamer.
I just hope he remembers when...
We were little.
And Momma had all the answers.
Daddy knew just what to say.
The future looks kind of scary.
I'd like to go back a few yesterdays.
