May Mrs. McGraw Rest in Peace

May Mrs. McGraw Rest in Peace

A Poem by Chrissie Muldoon
"

I got a writing prompt: 'The corpse you saw in the undertaker's window' and this is what got written. Short and sweet** **horrifying

"
Mrs. McGraw, with a hand like a claw, glared at me from her open coffin.

Mrs. McGraw opened her maw and moved it as if she were talkin'.

But Mrs. McGraw let out a guffaw and caught a fly that was a buzzin'.

And Mrs. McGraw unhinged her jaw and ceased that creature from livin'.

Then Mrs. McGraw, who knew that I saw, pointed at me and started laughin'.

'In life, it is law,' she began to caw, 'that for all, death is a-comin'!'

I love creepy, and this is fun creepy with it's clever rhyme...and the law of the claw that gets in our craw as we read and shiver.
