JEREMIAH SMOLLETT

The name was taken from a gravestone but there was no verse. The river name is reall and so is the place where he came from which came from the gravestone.

By the banks of Asland I was found
In it's deep waters was I drowned
Asland took my life
Left two children and my dear wife

Jeremiah Smollet was my name
I never sought fortune nor fame
I was a yeoman with my own land
Who knew not what the Lord had planned

Goodbye to Cross Hall Brow
Farewell to the rigours of the plough
Goodbye to my sweet Celeste
Till thou joins me in my eternal rest

I have been told it's too short but it would have to fit on a headstone.

Hay I think its fine. I'm sure it would fit on a headstone. This was tragic, but as things tend to be on headstones, hopeful.
