Sick of the Rain

Sick of the Rain

A Poem by Christina May Shanaberg

SICK OF THE RAIN

"I am sick of the rain,"

Would mean you're not well;

Are you feeling pain;

Are you, really, quite pale;

A few drops of water

Is, simply, a piece of cake;

Rain can't make you falter

Or drown, in its wake;

Have you no patience,

To await a glorious rainbow;

I, just, spoke the essence

Of things you, already, know.

This is good, I like this. It's funny how -taken literally- someone saying they're sick of the rain conjures up an unfortunate impression! But so many people do it all the time (especially here in England, where rain is prevalent) that you take no notice. It seems like a mere trifle when compared to the sort of sickness you COULD get; and also compared to the often fatal effects severe weather can actually have.
The comment in question is something to do with the soul, I think. Interesting perspective here though on what really matters!!!

Ah, but rainbows need sun and some folks forget the sun is still there when their skies grow cloudy...like the love of God in a world full of hurt, sin, war and pain. But the sun is there and we can be fortunate enough to glimpse the rainbow if we can only brave the showers with that knowledge. Wonderful sentiments beautifully expressed.
