Jane Doe

Jane Doe

A Poem by Chromophobik

Let me go out tonight

Let me go and touch the sky

Baby don’t take my light

Baby don’t take my life

I’m what is worse for me

They got all these different words for me

Calling me a b***h and a hoe

My own existence is a curse for me

I'm just trying to catch a ride home

While they pulling up in a hearse for me

Telling me it’s too dark out

For a woman to be up and about

The shadows lurking on scout

Patiently waiting to drag me to hell

No matter how much I scream and shout

I’m just a piece of meat on their plate

They put their fangs on my body

They run their claws on my face

Left in a ditch in a pool of my piss and vomit

Blood pouring down my legs

Too weak to stand on my feet

Have to crawl many miles instead

In the hopes of finding somebody

Before somebody finds me dead

But it’s just me and the streets

I Pass out, wake up, scream and cry

Crawl some more and the cycle repeats

Why have you forsaken me lord?

every passing breath questioning my beliefs

You were supposed to be my protector

how could you let a man do this to me?

Let me go out tonight

Let me go and touch the sky

Baby don’t take my light

Baby don’t take my life

This poem is deep in a way that makes my stomach turn. The imagery was perfectly shown through your words as well as pain.

I tried to get into the shoes of a woman in today's society. Glad you found it compelling. Thank you.. read more
