When The Bell Tolls

When The Bell Tolls

A Poem by Chromophobik

Who am I when I'm back in my bed

At the end of the day?

When it’s just me and my thoughts

And we start the tussle again

Choking each other out

All night we wrestle again

When its dark out

No sunshine in my mind

Hopeless I pass out

I’m running out of time

A hole I carve out

Outta my soul every night

Dear lord we meet again

At your feet going insane

What have i become?

I’m worthy of your disdain

My belief I feigned

I was put in chains

Forgive me father

For I heired your sins

I’m losing your honour

Crashing out on whims

I’ve taken out my wings

I’m floating out on winds

So when the bell tolls

And the sky comes crashing down

Take me to the gallows

Let my head hit the ground

Cause I’m wasting these breaths

With my eyes closed chasing silhouettes

Wasting life from dawn till sunsets

Watching promises fly away in regret

This one really hit me..... it feels so real and heavy, like you’re letting us into your head on one of your hardest nights..... you can feel the fight, the guilt, and the tiredness in every line..... it’s sad but also really honest, and that’s what makes it powerful.
Nice work.
