Eden, Not Afar

Eden, Not Afar

A Poem by Chubatemsu kichu
"

A lament over humanity’s fall into exploitation, this poem contrasts Eden’s lost harmony with present suffering, while affirming that God’s justice will rise, and a renewed Eden will yet be restored.

"

A world of charm, enchanted by colours,
Conceives a rill of joy and quiet splendour.
Brewing in love, mankind once laughed as one,
Eden’s blessing, sworn by the Father’s word.

In dreams alone have I beheld such glory,
For the streets I tread are dim and gory.
How I wish the world were emptied
Of erring souls bereft of love and pity.

Whispers I have heard of mother and child,
Lost, dissolved into the wild.
Tales of virtuous women seized and sold afar,
As though mankind bore a price or brand.

O poor wretched demons, who summoned thee
To barter in flesh, will you not flee?
Who has stirred the fury of the Lord on high,
That fire and judgment rend the sky?

Who now dares ensnare my people still,
To slake their dark and violent will?
For God has raised up steadfast warriors,
To shatter the demons in furious bursts.

Yet from the ashes, a quiet dawn appears,
The soil remembers forgotten tears.
Justice takes root where blood once cried,
And truth walks gently by mercy’s side.

Alas! Eden is not afar, hope stands restored.

Author's Note

Chubatemsu kichu
Rill – a small stream, symbol of gentle joy and life
Gory – filled with violence and bloodshed
Erring souls – morally lost and unloving people
Virtuous women seized – innocent women deceived and abducted
Demons – traffickers and violent villains
Steadfast warriors – police, frontline workers, and justice seekers
Eden – hope for peace, justice, and restored order
