Sleepless

Thoughts of my husband, in the middle of the night....

I can’t sleep tonight.

I usually can’t sleep, but tonight the reason is You.

I can’t lie still, feeling You near me

Your breath on my shoulder sets my heart pounding

And all I can think about is Your closeness.

 

Even sitting here, away from You, my thoughts are with You

Picturing You dancing with me, Your arms around me

I love You so completely--You complete me

And now I can’t sleep

 

I might miss a moment of you-A breath of You

And lose that little bit of myself that belongs to that little bit of You

 

I want to wake You, I want to kiss You

But I know that You need sleep

You cannot be sleepless, like me

 

But if I could sleep--I would be sleeping

With You.
