Long Lost Lover

Long Lost Lover

A Poem by Caitlin
"

I dream some odd and normal things. This is one of those moments.

"

Perhaps it was just a dream,

it must have been a dream,

where I saw you one hot summer's day

Your head resting upon the

gnarled roots of a tree.

Oaken and strong, in graceful repose.

It wasn't that I was afraid

Or dauntless for that matter.

But to reach out, to lay my head in your lap

That hot summer's day long ago,

while your horrid black mare

Watched.

That was many years ago now.

You have your own life

I have mine.

You have your love

And I have mine.

But give pause, and think,

For but one moment,

How things may have been if...

...if....

We had remembered.
