At The Seawall

A reflection in the form of Rondeau

 

At the seawall, I sip champagne
The salty gale fills every vein
A wave of foam-filled vigor knocks
Against the broken limestone rocks
An endless lull; A rhythmic chain.

Fishermen haul in ocean’s gain
Before the day brings summer rain
The shore reclaimed by seagull flocks
At the seawall.

What kind of life here could I feign?
A carefree wave bereft of pain
The brilliant dusks and moonlit walks
In windblown sandy, curly locks
I do believe I will remain
At the seawall.
