Ah! That can happen with certain people who enter into our lives. Sometimes we don't really see how valuable they are until they are gone! We can all change, and become a different person sometimes, although our core values usually remain pretty much as they were. With advancing years we usually gain in confidence (or just don't care what other people think of us anymore!). My inner self or selves often look back on the person or people that I/we used to be... all four of us! So much thought provoked by just a dozen little words!

A great short quote ...which is so true... Not just that the person was more themselves as time went by, but because you saw more of their true selves come out. Probably because of trust... from both sides.
As I write my review I realise that I am rereading your line and finding more and more meaning in it...
