Perhaps we should pay our the debt for our sins before the next day... as we don't know how long we're going to live...but not for karma..which is a great metaphor in this poem....all of us do good things and bad things in our lifetimes... so do we need to pay up??? a lot said in this short poem Cat.... i like it!

Your poem is a beautiful and evocative exploration of the complex emotions that come with the passage of time. The use of the metaphor of "lying down in the blue dawn of the next day" creates a sense of both peace and melancholy, while the imagery of "every karma I have owed and paid" adds a touch of spiritual depth. Your words convey a sense of acceptance and understanding, and the final line, "now I know you," is both poignant and heartfelt. Your poem is a testament to the power of language to capture the fleeting moments of life and to find meaning in the midst of change.

Oedipus died blind...all of his reckless deeds caught up to him...
and then the chorus talked about how man hopes to balance the ledger as much as possible before
he leaves this world...best we can hope for...
lots said in a short space here.

Accidentally fulfilling a prophecy, it really says so much about humanity in general. The signs have always been there. Thank you for the kind review. Much appreciated.
Is there an expiration date on Karma? Can we do enough good deeds to "pay" for the bad ones we did? Interesting write here, Vertigo. Thought provoking. Lydi**

Thank you so much! I’m so glad it was interesting. Much appreciated.
I like this...very simplified but a deeper meaning I suspect. It is as if written on the underside of a white fluffy cloud by the one lying back so other may be able to read. Nicely done.
