otherself

otherself

A Poem by Daniel Atkinson

when the tanks and trucks had faded beyond the border
and the soldiers in the mud had started to swell
color came back to me and i felt the heat of tears
the thoughts that had protected me were worn with use
and they hadn't much strength left in them
and i let the tears come
they did and stayed for a long time.

my otherself was dead and i felt her die
alone in the rubble and ash she cried out for me
and i didn't listen.

So heart touching. I liked the way you beautifully expressed the views of two scenes your own thoughts and other's perspective. You have managed to express your feelings well without creating any confusion.
