October

A Poem by CH Archive

October

Your face matched the pumpkin,
A wide grin, jagged tooth, what-a-sin
To carve it that happy

You’d think we'd want it to be scary?
I think it's rather comforting

The entire world ceased to
The golden hour of soft orange
Over dead-red brush and yellow lakes;
The kids are just starting to go trick-or-treatin’
The first Halloween specials go to air

I imagine myself dancing alone in a car yard,
Time of the Season through a broken speaker,
The air crisp but not cold.
