The Burial

The Burial

A Poem by CH Archive
"

This poem is for those who fear dying.

"

It all ends with a smile.

Thats what somebody once told me.

For a minute I even believed him.

He kept that in mind until the day he died

And Rigour Mortis contorted his smile,

Into a still life.

Caskets are just a burial shroud

Just reinforced with shiny metal

It all has the same fate,

As the obsolete wooden ones.

I don't want this to be all gloom,

Because I feel a slight sense of relief.

And if I'm writing just about doom,

Then in what do I have some belief?

This is just another day,

A slight remembrance of a summer day,

And it feels oh so good

Mother, I feel very good today.

This whole weekend was a bipolarity

And it ends oh so beautiful

It ends with a smile on my face...

I like the way you expressed death with a smile. In the end death will catch all of us. I like the personal feel to the poem. Telling dear mother. "I feel very good today."
A very strong ending to a outstanding poem.
