This is a poem originally title Wake Up (Rise and Shine) From my poetry book An Orchestra of Trees. Hope you enjoy

"

Wake up.

Rise and shine.

Its another day

Its another chance

To live.

Get your clothes on

Start up the car.

Grab your brief case.

Hit the road.

Same routine once again.

Park by the sidewalk

Where the homeless sleep.

Pretend you didn't see them.

Keep your eyes forward.

Grab a coffee

Grab a newspaper

Say hello to the doorman

Flirt with your assistant

Pretend your not married.

Turn on your computer

Flick up the lights.

Relax.

Check your emails

Check your bank balance

Do your taxes

Say hello to the boss.

Be two-faced.

Give him a big smile.

Secretly grinding your teeth.

Lunch break.

Go to a fancy restaurant

Only order a tuna sandwich.

For $12.00

Check your text messages.

Check your missed calls.

Call home to check up with the wife.

No answer.

Assume that she's cheating on you.

Thinking of ways to get back at her.

Remembering the assistant.

Phone rings.

Its the wife.

She was in the shower.

You think too bad

That assistant was looking good.

Go back to work

Flick on the lights

Turn on the computer

Switching it up.

Look at the clock

Until its 5

Kill some time.

Play some online games.

Where did the time go?

Its quitting time

Close your door

Say goodnight to your assistant

Walk by the sidewalk

Pretend you didn't see the homeless

Get in your car

Drive home

Say hello to the wife

Eat.

Watch T.V

Head up to the bedroom

Its been a long day.

Still have energy for sex.

Still have energy to moan.

Drift off.

Dream about the assistant.

Capre Diem.

Wake up.

I believe in the big cities. Most folks learn to block out the bad stuff. A working person with time limits and responsibilities can't see the homeless. I like the flow and thoughts of this poem. A very nice ending to a outstanding poem.
