Hearts with wings don’t fly

They usually fold up and cry

Expecting the unexpected

Love gets disconnected

And dreams of joy drown in the mist

When tomorrow’s truth comes calling

 

When rain drowns the sun

Heartbreak had just begun

For as long as there’s a thinking mind

Humanity is not too kind

Lost in fear of losing the ego

No one is safe from betrayal

 

So hearts with wings won’t fly

Instead expect a heap of lies

And find yourself prepared

For the dogs that dare

To tear the flesh from bones

Of life that bleeds too easily

Cole: I really enjoyed it. Sometimes it is so true, exspectations are too high..Self Sabotage...Love is a tricky thing. Loved the Title, and the metaphor; great visuals. The first stanza pulled me right in, just beautiful and a great chorus too, noting that you write songs. Loved the line about ego, you've got that right. Too many ideas of the "perfect' relationship and you know, it just doesn't exist. They don't just fold up and cry, they waste time, and die searching for the soulmate, such a clique. Ending is very good also, To tear flesh from the bones of life that bleeds too easily, and you end up alone....No one is safe from betrayal, but too many people are jaded. Sorry, Cole, I'm sleepy, but still wish to tell you, I truly hope you continue writing. You're very talented and look forward to reading more. Thanks...Dale
