The sun above
needs no illumination.
It radiates its light
from deep within.
Then why scrub
and polish the star
burning in you no
less brightly than
the sun? Needing
no fuel except love.
Let it shine as it will.
I agree with the message in your poem, that there's something inherently bright that lives in each person, but most are shining up the wrong things, like wearing fake beauty products & donning the acceptable fashions, etc. I love that your message is focused & clear as the sun . . . we only need worry about letting our inner lights shine! A lovely sentiment, Tania. There is no need to intellectualise your message here; it's all rather simple....love yourself, give love and accept it and shine for all you are. It's a beautiful piece of wisdom. Wonderful lines. 💛

Yes the beauty comes from its briefness and uniqueness
Such wise words here! I'm really impressed by your writing. I also agree with the theme of this poem, but don't you think that the sun, bright and amazing it is, is very "lonely"? I know I'm anthropomorphizing it, but being bright and shining - is it really enough? We can admire the sun from a distance, but can't get close to it; it can't get close to us, or we'll burn. It seems to me that the "star" in us wants to shine bright, yes, but it also wants "receptive eyes." Just my opinion...:)
The star inside will shine of its own accord where there is love. Love is all you need. That what the Beatles sang, didn't they? A nice little free verse you have penned here.
